The beginning of Globalization goes back to the outcomes of the first voyage of Christopher Columbus that brought him, on October 1492, to the shore of an island in the Caribbean Sea. It was the starting point of a brutal and bloody intervention of European sea powers in the history of American peoples, a region of the world that had, up to then, remained insulated from regular relationships with Europe, Africa and Asia.
The positive effects include a number of factors which are education, trade, technology, competition, investments and capital flows, employment, culture and organization structure. In general, globalization has been shown to increase the standard of living in developing countries, but some analysts warn that globalization can have a negative effect on local or emerging economies and individual workers.
Globalization has created global competition, resulting in a boost in economic activities that deplete the environment and its natural resources. The increased economic activity leads to greater emissions of industrial pollutants and more environmental degradation. Globalization also has its side effects to the developed nations. These include some factors which are jobs insecurity, fluctuation in prices, terrorism, fluctuation in currency, and capital flows.
