The Allies also destroyed and sunk 3,500 merchant ships that belonged to the Axis navy, making them unable to fight back effectively. The British and Canadian forces which were part of the Allied forces also destroyed powerful 783 U-boats, 47 merchant warship and other marine war paraphernalia belonging to the German forces, making the latter to, lose momentum in the war and eventually give up In a nutshell, the most effective strategy that was used by the Allied forces to defeat Germany is ambush attack and destruction of the German warships and U-boats.
