How did the US use the U-2 spy plane
The U-2 was capable of flying altitudes that could not be reached by the Soviet Union’s military aircraft and missiles. Therefore, the spy lane served as an excellent cover for major communications and interception operations run by the American National Security Agency. This made possible the monitoring of missile test sites, key infrastructure, communications, as well as gaining vital photo intelligence in a period that satellite observation was not present.
