If the historical events that happened during the Spaniards occupying the Philippines did not happen in the first place, the Philippines would not be as it is today. Before the coming of Spaniards, the country had a good history of culture and literature. The Spaniards destroyed all of it. Today the Philippines are gloomy and are encountering struggles on the belief that their political institutions are struggling. The Spaniard's interventions impacted the capacities of the Philippines democratic institutions. They ignored the rights and wishes of Filipinos, who only held minor offices in government. Filipinos were not given priority in education. Even Spanish religious leaders exercised too much control over the lives of the people. The Philippines government never benefited the people. Today, there is still hardship in implementing political reforms in most areas of the country.
