Explain the significance of Joseph McCarthy and the impact of McCarthyism?
Joseph McCarthy was a leader of the Senate Committee on U.S. government operations and the permanent subcommittee on the investigation. McCarthy conducted inspections of the communist party members and sympathizers employed by the USA government or contractors which transpired fear of consequences of communist on the American Institutions and intelligence by Soviet representatives.
Impacts of McCarthyism include;
1. Ruined the lives and reputation of many people by accusing them without reasonable proof.
2. Violation of freedom of speech due to his rhetoric assumption that it is risky or un-American to discuss any concept underlying Communism.
3. He Counterattacked anyone who criticized his methods by use of the accusation of communist sympathizers.
