Summarize the causes of & results of the Korean War in 1950-1953?
Causes
Between 1950 to 1953, the Korean War began (Malkasian, 2001). It happened due to the spread of communism during the Cold War and occupation of Korea by the Japanese during the Second World War. (Malkasian, 2001). The people's Republic of China was scared that America was interested in establishing North Korea as its operations ground against Manchuria; they secretly sent its Military across the Yalu River.
Results
The Korean War never ended officially. Regardless of the Korean Armistice Agreement ending the hostilities that assassinated at-least 2.5 million individuals on July 27, 1953, the ceasefire's result was never a peace treaty (Malkasian, 2001). At that time, the president of South Korea refused to divide it. However, the armistice ended the first American experiment with the Cold War idea of limited war.
