Describe the Berlin Airlift in 1947?
The Soviet Union banned all road and rail travel to and from West Berlin, which was within the Soviet zone of occupation in Germany, on June 24, 1948. The Soviet intervention was in reaction to American and British officials' reluctance to give Russia a greater say in Germany's economic future. In response to the Soviet blockade of West Berlin's land routes, the US starts a major airlift of food, water, and medicine to the besieged city's inhabitants.
