What was the idea of pre-emptive strikes and regime change proposed by some politicians and policymakers in the late 2000s?
Reasons for Justifying pre-emptive Strikes
George Bush administration initiated pre-emptive strikes during the Iraq wars and argued that it was about national security. It was meant to emphasize allowing the USA military to take action on terrorism groups. They believed that such action could prevent attacks on other nations and stop organizations plotting attacks on the US. However, politicians' and policymakers' ideas were criticized because they did not follow international, Customary, and UN Security laws and resolutions.
