What were the stated reasons for the US/UK invasion of Iraq in 2003? What were the outcomes?

Some officials in the United States believed that Saddam Hussein sought to either create or receive mass destruction weapons. According to the Bush administration, Iraq needed to attain democracy and become stable to ensure American foreign policy interests (Imane & Kheirour, 2020). The attack resulted in significant global resentment and domestic disappointment. Weapons of mass destruction were not found, and prisoners in the Abu Ghraib prison were mistreated. America and its coalition forces were hindered by flawed intelligence and strong resistance in Iraq.
