Jameson made peace treaty with the Indians. The treaty went as far as marrying some, the settlers were able to settle in Jamestown with a little comfort of knowing that wars with Indians were lessened. The resulting atmosphere favored for permanent settlement of the settlers. By realizing that tobacco grown in Jamestown could be sold in England for a big profit, the town found an economic activity that occupied its population and that acted as a big factor in influencing its economic and social rise.
