Secession of the Southern States

It is the southerner that would agree with the secession idea from the Union. Some 11 states of the United States decided to secede from the union because they felt that u ion wasn’t satisfactory anymore in the context of state rights and on the issue of slavery (Ryan, 2019). Some of the southern states that differed with the northern states on the issues of slavery and the states’ rights include the states of Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, etc. Being that the southern states felt maltreated by the union, they decided to come together and form confederate states of America that were opposed to the union (Lopez Basaguren & Escajedo San Epifanio, 2019). The southern states pushed for the secession because they wanted to preserve slavery that they claimed to be the linchpin of their economy. The secession led to a break out of the American civil war in which the northern states collectively fought against the seceded southern states (Ryan, 2019). Being that the southern states had a weaker military, they were defeated and the secession consequently revoked.
