Describe and identify the significance of D-Day landings.
The D-Day Landings were coded designations for one of the largest sea- borne invasions in history. It designated the landing operations of the Allied forces and was used to confuse the Germans.The invasion began on 6, June, 1944 thus playing a significant role in World War II. The Allied forces invaded five beaches along the French Normandy region and defeated the Germans. This marked the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi's control and also the beginning of the end of the war. After the invasion, the Allies formally accepted the Nazi's surrender.
