Between the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughals, I think the Delhi Sultanate was more cultured and elegant due to the fact that it presented opportunities for cultural intermixing compared to the Mughals. Another aspect to consider is that the Delhi Sultanate treated their Hindu subjects more tolerably. Considering the fact that India is a pluralistic nation with a variety of faiths, the Delhi Sultanate, a Muslim minority managed to govern the diverse people in India with Hindu’s being a majority of those people. Different political environments alongside the different artistic interactions, religious attitudes, and the fact that Hindus were an essential part of the Delhi Sultanate’s economies made the Sultanate treat the Hindu’s more tolerably (Klune, 2014). The Delhi Sultanate also presented the monetary, social and political bases that were different from the ones that preceded it. Finally, they brought forth the Islamic traditions and law to India through scholars who fled the Mongols from Persia, Turkey and even Arab states. These scholars brought with them different traditions of the Islamic architecture, art and learning. These foundations uniquely made the Delhi Sultanate era more cultured and elegant.
