Answer to Question #159096 in History for Jacob Lemmon

Question #159096

Reasons why using the atomic weapons was the wrong thing for the United States to do in order to end the war

Expert's answer

First, the bomb that was dropped in Hiroshima killed up to 140,000 people and the one dropped in Nagasaki killed around 50,000 people. The action of America was unnecessary and uncalled for because it was not moral and with the full awareness that it would result to the death of many civilians and the destruction of urban milieu.

Also, following the invasion of Manchuria, Japan was militarily finished, therefore, there was no need for the Hiroshima bomb. As for the bomb that was dropped in Nagasaki, it was unnecessary since it was just a scientific test to determine if both bombs had the same impact and operation.
