After Japan affiliated itself with Britain in 1900, Japan and Germany became opponents in the First World War. Japan declared war on the German Territory in 1914 and seized key German properties in China and the Pacific area. The Triple Alliance that was formed that included Italy as the axis power was limited due to greater physical distances between the member states. Hence, for the most part, Germany and Japan fought distinct wars and finally submitted separately.
