The Western Roman Empire ended in 476 C.E. The empire ended after Odoacer, the Germanic leader, staged a revolt to depose Romulus Augustulus, who was the emperor. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it was replaced by Germanic kingdoms, which were referred to as the Barbarian Kingdoms.
