In Theodore Roosevelt's statement, as per point of argument the Western countries did not take it positively because the statement itself was degrading the western world. Similarly, the statement itself was kind of threat posed by the United States to the western world. Meaning that the western countries cannot plan and execute their plans on their own. First they must consult the U.S which is a sign of dictatorship from U.S. Therefore, in response to this statement the citizens of the western world won't take it lightly and they may respond to it negatively through different means. They can decide to terminate their good relationship with the U.S, or boycott their product or decide not to enter into business partnership with U.S as counter action.
