The people who suffered in genocide such as in Rwanda are considered to be survivors because thousands of people lost their lives in a mass killing as a consequence of losing a seating president. For this reason, since the Rwandese were not armed, the armed Hutus had to kill innocent citizens who were from the same tribe with the individuals who assassinated the Rwandese President. Therefore, those who suffered in genocide were to be killed and those who were lucky to be alive are survivors.
