Even though First Nations were consulted during the constitutional reform process in the 1980s, they do not have guaranteed representation in parliament due to the enormous political minds advocating the proportional presentation system. Nevertheless, the First Nation’s denial of parliament presentation was against the constitutional act of Section 35, which guarantees the protection of treaty and aboriginal rights.
