The Gilded Age is a period between the Civil War and the commencement of the twentieth century. During this period, the wealthy consisted of industrialists who lived an extremely different life when compared to that of the impoverished individuals. The income inequality between the two classes of people was immense and continued to expand throughout the era. Precisely, the primary role of the wealthy during this era was to enhance industrialization and improve infrastructural networks in the country. Although their gain for wealth emanated from intensive exploitation of the poor, they played a crucial role in the industrial revolution and urbanization.
