The United States has meddled or interfered in other countries foreign elections, backed-up coups, and invasions in countries since the 1800's. Some of these countries include Hawaii, Cuba, and Nicaragua. In these countries, the United States aided in overthrowing the principal governing body at the time if they did not conform to their wants and expectations. In Nicaragua, the United States overthrew president Zelaya since he wanted his country to have an independent foreign policy. In Hawaii, they promoted the overthrow of the monarchy to use Hawaii as a gateway to trade in china. At the same time, in Cuba, they staged a presidential election for a candidate they liked, rigged, and when protests rose, sent troops to suppress Protestants (Kinzer, 2017). In my opinion, the Cuban intervention shaped America’s foreign affairs. From the reign of Fidel Castro, Cuban's Former president, Former President Obama was the one who moved toward normalization. Cuba has developed from enduring political hostility to available airline services from the United States and Obama’s visit to the Island, among other things. Even with reinstated restrictions by America in president Trump’s regime, Diplomatic ties with the country continue to improve.
