During the Cold War, different countries used their militaries in many ways. The three common ways militaries were used include; first, to maintain peace. Since the Cold War brought tension among citizens, governments deployed their militaries to maintain peace. Second, governments used militaries to secure borders. Although the war took place through threats, countries deployed their militaries at borders to reduce the chances of intrusion by enemies. Third, militaries were used to counter the flow of illegal drugs. Large producers of narcotics saw the Cold War as a perfect chance to expand their businesses. Many governments were forced to deploy their militaries at the borders to keep way drug traffickers.
