Prohibition is the ratification of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which banned the manufacture, transportation and sale of intoxicating liquors. it was implemented through passage of the Volstead Act. It favored the liquor manufacturers and American citizens who were affected by the illegal production and sales of the product as well as increased crime.
