Why didn't the U.S. do anything to stop the fascist invasions of Manchuria or Ethiopia, or to stop Germany's reoccupation of the Rhineland?

The United States had a remarkably higher power in comparison to Germany at that time; therefore, this country could try to stop Hitler. However, the USA was very vulnerable and unprepared for the war; also, it was the period of the Great Depression. Concerning the U.S chances, if they had stood up to Germany, probably, another conflict would have broken out, and there would have been no support of the citizens to start another war.
