The Caribbean has a higher total fertility rate in Latin America due to the low-socioeconomic status and cultural norms, but it is lower compared to that of Nigeria. Religion also influences the population group. As well, the Caribbean has policies and movements that discourage family planning initiatives For instance, Nigeria has a higher percentage of Muslims that tend to have higher number of children than Christians. The Caribbean has a more significant proportion of Christians. Besides, the rise in unemployment in Nigeria has been linked to increase in population size. More so, failure to implement population policy has contributed to the high population growth in Nigeria.
