5.1) relationships within the life of a child help shape the way they view the world. Parent - child relationship is important as the child tends to feel ,more secure when they develop an trust in the parent. Parent - others relationship also helps shape the life of a child i early stages as children learn how to communicate, behave and express emotions/ feelings.

5.2) child - headed households have become a common feature in South Africa's rural and even urban areas. this is according to data acquired by PMG( Parliamentary Monitoring Group) in 2015. the major cause of this scenario can be justified to be death of both parents especially due to AIDS-related complications or even abandonment of the children by caregivers.

5.3)

  • IN 2015, there were about 90,000 children in 50,000 child-headed households.
  • the numbers, as of 2018, have dropped to about 33,000.
  • Majority of these kids are not i school since their future is not a major concern for them, survival is.

5.4) the reality in child-headed households does not in any case lead to full child development. this is because;

  1. the child is tasked with seeking survival means which should not be at all a concern for them in their early years.
  2. school attendance, which is a major aspect for the mental growth of the child, is a non-concern for most children from Child-headed Households.
  3. the children lack 'parental' care and guidance which is deemed to very helpful in helpinguntap the children's abilities and talents.
