Men and women have different interests in the management of natural resources.Natural resource management affects men and women differently due to their roles and responsibilities.This has led to people understanding the environment that sorrounds them.For example African women were involved in gathering firewood,fetching water and practicing agriculture this led them to be familliar with the terrain of the natural resources around them through understanding the forest and rivers in their region.

Men practiced fishing,hunting and gathering and thus becoming familiar with the natural resources sorrounding them through their daily activities.
