Academic language refers to the oral, verbal, auditory, and visual language skills necessary for successful learning in schools and academic programs. Academic terminology follows a specific set of guidelines: it must be explicit, systematic, and truthful, as well as objective and analytical. It has a number of characteristics, which are mentioned below:
1.Formality -The vocabulary used in academic settings is more formal. In addition, this means that you can stop using colloquial terms and phrases in an article. For example, you can't combine local and academic languages in the same sentence.
2. Complexity; Academic language is written in a common, analytical tone rather than a specific tone. As a result, it has fewer terms that belong to the author or the reader. It means that you should put more attention on the facts you wish to have and the points you want to make rather than on yourself. If you're talking about a particular subject, for example, you must stick to it.
3.complexity; The written language is more complicated than the spoken language. Written language has longer sentences, a more diverse vocabulary, and a denser lexicon. It employs a greater number of noun-based than verb-based expressions. The grammatical structure of academic vocabulary is higher, with more subordinate clauses and passives.
