A budget helps me to focus on common goals and enables me to prepare for emergencies or significant or unanticipated expenses that might otherwise knock me for a loop financially. The budget gives the direction for the business by creating goals and objectives and then assigning responsibility to achieve those goals. As a business person, the budget makes employees know what is expected of them for their particular job and department. The budget preparation motivates employees to become involved and contribute their input.
