QUESTION 4
According to Avert (2018), South Africa has the highest HIV/AIDS statistics in the world, with 7.1
million people living with HIV. HIV prevalence is high among the general population at 18.9%.
Furthermore, HSRC Press (2008) states that the generalised nature of the HIV/AIDS epidemic
in South Africa means that it impacts unevenly on security businesses. Companies respond in
varied ways, and with varied means, to the challenges posed by the epidemic. Assessment of
the impacts of HIV/AIDS, and of the responses of companies to it, are critical to help mitigate
the impact of the epidemic on productivity, labour costs, and the supply of skills.
In light of the above statement, write an essay in which you critically discuss the impact of
HIV/AIDS on the security industry in South Africa.
South African has been seen as the leading country with people living with HIV. Many institutions have tried to find out on the ways which can help mitigate this epidemic since this has led to less productivity rate among these organizations. The pandemic has critically impacted on the security industry through less supply of labor and reduced labor productivity.
There is increased mortality and morbidity rate due to this pandemic, this therefore, leads to loss of labor skills for instance on the people working on the security industry. Furthermore, people living with HIV becomes less productive and less active in their work. South African has been seen as the leading country with people living with HIV.
