Baldoni
In the video, “Why I’m done trying to be man enough”, Justin Baldoni argues that the prescription of gender roles in society is doing more harm than good (Baldoni n.d). He argues that these prescriptions are toxic and need to end. Baldoni posts photos of his wife and children, whom he loves dearly, on his social site and constantly feminist posts and messages. He is followed mainly by females. However, when he started posting diet videos and workouts, men began to pay attention.
Baldoni assists anyone watching to see the extent to which men resist certain ideas through toxic masculinity. One idea is that of a happy family through a trying man who takes care of his kids, cooks for them and changes them. Men are less moved by such issues since they still feel that such roles belong to females (Baldoni n.d). Men have developed toxic masculinity that makes them think that it is hardly manly enough to listen to females and attend to their instant grievances. Baldoni delivers this sensitive topic conversationally and comically that anyone can grasp.
