According to the happiness factor of David Brooks, the power of our unconsciousness is the true explanation for our careers and our friendship. The unconscious mind is immense and plays an almost non-recorded yet powerful part in managing human behaviour. The underrated personal relationships offer a greater value of happiness than the wealth, job and property in which people reside. People in long-term relationships are happier than people that are not and do not undermine the value of a marital institution. The relationship between money and happiness is also very small, whereas the relationship between happiness and personal relationships is very solid.

I disagree with the reasons correlated with greater pleasure by David Brooks. I conclude the the mind is playing a more active and powerful function in influencing human behavior since it embraces everything of one's consciousness and reason. Memories, thoughts, experiences and other emotions in our present consciousness decide our degree of satisfaction. Brook's belief that jobs, income, property etc. are overemphasized as a source of pleasure at the cost of personal relationships, particularly marriage, is wrong. While some people are trying to find the right partners to get married, good marriage depends on and is not assured on the nature of the partnership between spouses. Moreover, many individuals gain higher degrees of satisfaction from developing jobs and other non-marriage ambitions. There is a clear connection between wealth and pleasure. Money has the capability to purchase enjoyment from individuals, for example you can travel to locations with your loved ones, eat more food and get more independence.
