vetted before they are enskinned as traditional leaders.

2a. It is not ethical to allow one to hold office of power when he has been convicted for high treason. People cannot trust a person who is not loyal to their community therefore they will not work hand in hand with the chief's office to ensure development in their local community.

2b. Chiefs play an important role in the political, social and economic development of any country.

They help mobilize their community to implement policies and support government projects.

They adjudicate disputes to ensure stability and peace in their area of jurisdiction.

They discuss, initiate and monitor community development projects.

The chiefs know the problems faced by the local people and therefore when included in the local assembly he can be able to raise issues affecting his community.

All these reasons show that the chief should be part of the local assembly because they have a direct link to the people on the ground and can help the assembly in executing their development agendas in the local communities.

2c. Chiefs and queen mothers are hereditary leaders who come to power through their bloodline or marriage. They are traditional leaders who are regarded as true representatives of the people legitimate, respected and accessible. They play an important role in society and support and drive development in their communities. They therefore should not be elected and vetted so that traditional values and customs can still guide them in their daily work. Also, them not being elected and vetted should help them not get influenced by political propagandas.
