a) Zazueta J. (2021). Exploring the gender gap in the labor market: a sex-disaggregated view

In this article a simple mathematics model is constructed that explains the dynamics of the gender gap in a labor market niche and examine how sexism, market size, and market dynamism influence the system's evolution. By observing a broad sample of the parameter space, a high-level characterization of the framework is proposed, and particular cases of importance to policy-making are investigated. The goal of this paper is to present a model that can be used to investigate the consequences of policy decisions and to discuss some of these consequences in order to shed light on potential policy-making aimed at closing the gender gap.

b) Allen J. (2021). So much more than cheap labor! Volunteers engage in emotional labor

Many volunteers are required to offer excellent customer support to charitable agency customers, in addition to a variety of other responsibilities. We suggest that volunteers be aware of organizational show laws, participate in emotional labor, and feel emotional exhaustion, based on Hochschild's model of emotional labor among employees. Using a representative pool of nonprofit volunteers
