What conclusions do you draw from the allegory? If people have developed a way of understanding the world that makes them comfortable, does it matter if it's false? Is there some higher moral duty to expose them to the truth regardless of their own preferences?

The Pluto’s allegory of the cave  is for the idea that individuals who lack exposure may not have the real picture or truth. This may lead to misguidance and inability to have an open mind during the interactions with individuals who are exposed. Having a false perspective of the world is an issue even though it may make some people individuals. It matters because it prevents a good reasoning and vision of the world and therefore creates difficulty in the interaction. Yes,   there is amoral duty to  expose them to the truth regardless their own preferences b since their preference may as well affect those individuals who h are exposed to the truth.
