The listening process can be divided into different stages such as receiving, remembering, responding, evaluating, and understanding. During the receiving stage, there is a focus that is intentional to hear the message of the speaker by isolating other sources that might bring confusion. In the stage of understanding, there are attempts to learn what the message means. In the remembering stage, individuals try to recall what they listened to. It is only through listening carefully that one is able to remember. Evaluating is the fourth stage in the process of listening.  In this stage, the value of the message is usually judged. The last stage in the listening process is responding. In responding, the listener indicates his or her involvement through giving feedback.
