1. Four different phases or stages of the poem 'Sudden Yellow Sick' by Tatamkhulu Africa
(a) In the first part of the poem (stanza 1and 2) , the speaker says that he will rest 'now' (line 1-2) and begin to 'enjoy flowers without twisting them/into torturerous metarphors'(line 5-6). Why do you think the speaker could not enjoy things before? Why has he not been resting?
(b) What does the next stage of the poem (stanza 3) shows the speaker doing?
(c) In the final stanza of the poem , the speaker suddenly sees a yellow sign at an 'Indian corner shop ' (line 41) that 'burst / through the grey/ like a shout of pure joy at its yellowness' ( line 41-43) what does this sign make the speaker do? What does he realize?
