In Unit 4.7 it was discussed about the importantance of proverbs or idioms, that they serve to instruct and remind members of the community in high morals, self respect and ways of conducting themselves. Finnegan’s (1970) further elaborated that “African worldview is not totally different from that of better-known cultures, an understanding of how African proverbs express common wisdom is unique to any culture”. Name a culture that uses idioms and proverbs to discipline and support the values of that culture.
