In light of the current issue of IPV and crimes against women, briefly discuss what the implications will be for the police, the courts and correctional services?

Whenever an IPV incident is reported, one of the first response teams would be the police. They bear the responsibility of assessing the situation to determine the next best course of action.They can choose to try and mediate the parties of arrest the perpetrators. In some circumstances, they choose not to intervene with the situation. However, the police have recently started making arrests of the perpetrators which helps deter these violent acts. The courts should impose equal sentences for IPV cases as they do for non-IPV cases. Such measures would deter people from committing domestic violence, hence lowering the number of reported cases.
