Extrusive rocks are a result of magma extruding and crystallizing on the surface of the earth. The examples are basalt, perlite, rhyolite, obsidian.

Intrusive rocks form as a result of crystallization of magma below earth's surface. Some examples are pegmatite, granite, gabbro.
