What is the difference between DNA proofreading and DNA repair?

DNA proofreading is a fixing of a wrong nucleotide with a correct base during the process of DNA replication by DNA polymerase. In contrast, DNA repair occurs during all stages of the cell cycle. Other proteins (kinases, polymerases, adaptors, histones, etc.) control the process of DNA repair.
