Main features of apartheid state in south Africa


Apartheid is a legislation system that promoted the segregation of south Africa citizens basing on race .The law was enforced in 1948 after the National party came in power and the white government took over The following features were entailed in the apartheid system:


-Basic premise:


This feature classified the south Africa n citizens into four major groups ,that is;European whites ,Bantus,Asians and the coloured people which involved mixed colored background.This feature allowed each race to establish and developed on its own and the whites took over the country.


-No intermarriages between the races was allowed:


The only people given the mandate to be full citizens in the apartheid are the whites .The Bantus and the other races were considered non citizens and foreigners .Other aspects such as job residence were divided basing on race and thus were not allowed to intermarry.
