So in 1840, it was a sovereign goal to have European dominions out of Hawaiian territories, American government could therefore take advantage of the situation to acquire a bridgehead in Hawaii due to the sugar trade which was thriving. The American government coerced sugar growers by providing sweet terms in sugar trade engagement, the U.S dominance on the island come in the year 1900 when America annexed the island to become one of her territories, America enhanced the growth of the economy, significantly increased both sugar and pineapple produces in order feed the U.S mainland. Loosing of Hawaii by the United States would translate to losing a port way to China, India, and parts of Asia. The Hawaiian island was also the American naval base. Independence of Hawaii would, therefore, mean stripping America of all such benefits, it was not a comfortable idea for her to lose such a territory.
