The focal length of a convex lens is 17cm. A candle is placed 34cm in front of the lens. Find the location of the image. What is the magnification of the lens?

From the formula
1/f = 1/d1 +1/d2
we can find the locatin of the image:
1/d2 = 1/17 - 1/34 = 1/34
d2 = 34 cm.
The magnification is equal to m = -34/34 = -1.- The image is inverted.
