Answer to Question #936 in Molecular Physics | Thermodynamics for vic

Question #936
Steam at 1.00MPa and 350ºC enters a diffuser steadily with a velocity of 400m.s-1, and leaves at
2.75MPa and with a velocity of 40.0m.s-1. During transit through the diffuser, 1.5kJ.kg-1 of heat
is lost to the atmosphere.
(a) What is the specific enthalpy of the entering steam? (2 marks)
(b) Determine the specific enthalpy of the exit steam? (6 marks)
(c) Determine the exit temperature of the steam. (2 marks)
(d) What is the ratio of the inlet to exit area (A1/A2)? (5 marks)
