Answer on Mechanics | Relativity Question for madi

Question #4587
when trying to find the best way to define a force scale using rubber bands, which is best; using 1 rubber band and measuring each centimeter as a unit or force, or using multiple rubber bands that are parallel with each other? and why?
Expert's answer
The thing is that the rubber band has nonlinear coefficient of a tension. Nevertheless, we should accept it linear if the extension is rather small. So, it's better to take multiple rubber bands that are parallel. Then the force will distribute evenly between the rubber bands and the measurement will be more accurate.
