Neglect the masses of the cable the pulley. (a) What is the upward acceleration of the elevator cage if the pulley is permitted to run freely, without friction? (b) What is the tension in the cable? (c) What are the tensions in the cable if the pulley is locked (by means of a brake) so that the elevator remains stationary
