# Answer to Question #21379 in Mechanics | Relativity for M Waqas

Question #21379

Does the power needed to raise a box onto a platform depend on how fast it is raised?

Expert's answer

Power can be expressed asP = F*V

where F is force (F=mg in our case) and V is velocity

Hence, for bigger velocity there has to be bigger power.

Power is proportional to velocity

where F is force (F=mg in our case) and V is velocity

Hence, for bigger velocity there has to be bigger power.

Power is proportional to velocity
