Batteries have internal resistance. This resistance is different from resistance of wires. Resistance of metal wires decreases when they are cooling. The internal resistance of a battery increases with cooling because this resistance is a result of ions’ motion. The lower the temperature – the slower their speed – the lower the conductivity – the higher the resistance.
