Different Ways of Defining Nature

Nature can be described as the natural and physical processes that exist in the universe. It is made up of living objects like plants and animals, as well as physical features like mountains, valleys, and oceans. As a result, concepts of existence have been debated in a variety of forms and methods. Furthermore, it is obvious that biology is an essential component of life in all forms of living beings. The determination of the true concept of existence has been difficult due to the many ways in which nature has been defined. As a result, the word "human nature" was taken from nature, as it refers to humans' traits and attributes in contrast to the environment. In this essay I will discuss in detail and elaborate three different ways to define nature.

Study reports suggest that humans interact with nature according to the way nature has been defined. One way that has been used to explore nature with the relationship of human beings is through post-colonial ecocriticism (Pasko et al., 2019). This has brought out the combination of environmental concerns, which includes conservation with postcolonial issues such as slavery and colonialism. Therefore, the scientific knowledge of nature is and will remain incomplete since scientists have to depend on mental representations and concepts based on theory (Dassonville, 2017). Hence, studying the concept of nature is significantly important for the conservation of sciences and the derivation of policies consisting of philosophers and historians.

Many of the arguments have been made in the definition of nature, making nature a difficult concept to understand. Therefore, the applied definition of nature is the consisting of physical features, human beings, and other material things in the universe. Besides, the study of nature is large not only scientifically but also through human activities categorized as being part of the natural phenomena (Maksimov et al., 2020). Hence, the word nature has basically been used in relation to the characteristics of plants, animals, and other features present in the universe. Research states that the concept of nature has increasingly become a reality brought up from intentional intervention. On the other hand, nature can be composed of geology and wildlife, hence referred to as the natural environment comprising wild animals, forests, and all other features beyond human creation for its existence (Pasko et al., 2019). Therefore, scientific research shows that earth is the planet that supports life and the existing natural feature. Ideally, humans depend on nature for survival and their sustainability for the things such as water, air, and plants. This brings the idea of purposely conserving nature for the safety of future outcomes (Dassonville, 2017). Since nature encompasses biodiversity, there is an a urge to preserve nature.

The paper above analyzes the definition of nature in multiple ways, making it a challenge to understand the actual meaning of nature. Consequently, nature is the universe's physical appearance comprising of living things and physical features. Consequently, nature is essential for the existence of human beings.
